WWE fans enjoyed some wonderful news on Monday night as former champion Roman Reigns returned to Raw to announce that he is now in remission from cancer.

‘We hit a home run,’ he told the delighted crowd in Atlanta. ‘The good news is, I’m in remission y’all!’

An emotional Reigns soaked up the cheers and well-wishes, before declaring that ‘the big dog is back!’

He then walked towards the dressing room before being embraced by former Shield teammate Seth Rollins on the apron.

Reigns, real name Joe Anoa’i, was forced to give up his WWE Universal Championship in October after his leukaemia had returned.

The 33-year-old had not been seen on WWE television until his return on Raw, but has been busy in Hollywood as he’ll be starring alongside his real-life cousin and fellow wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw this summer.

The cousins will be appearing on screen as brothers in the film, which is directed by Deadpool 2’s David Leitch.

As for future wrestling commitments, once Reigns returns to full health a WWE comeback is inevitable, with the formerly unpopular star now a firm fan-favourite.

While it’s unlikely he will be able to return for Wrestlemania, his eventual homecoming in the ring will be one of the most unforgettable wrestling moments of 2019.
