WoW Classic stress test countdown: Final World of Warcraft beta before release date

WoW Classic fans will have their final chance to put the new build through its paces this week.

Exclusively available on Battle.Net, the new WoW Classic Stress Test is kicking off tomorrow, August 8.

Blizzard revealed as much earlier this month, telling fans that it would begin in the morning for some and the evening for others.

It will all depend on where you live in the world in regards to the exact timing of the WoW Classic Stress Test.

For gamers in the UK, the World of Warcraft Classic beta should begin at around 7pm, BST.

And like all the other testing periods, this week’s WoW Classic beta will only be available to those with an active subscription.

The only downside to this new stress test is that it’s only scheduled to run until Friday, August 9 and will have a level cap set at 15.

“Our global pre-launch test of WoW Classic will begin on August 8 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.

“This test will be available to all World of Warcraft players with a current subscription or active game time in all regions.”

Blizzard have also asked fans who are taking part to log-in and play as much as possible during the first two hours of the test.

This would be 11am PDT to 1pm PDT in the United States, and 7pm till 9pm in the UK.

Blizzard says that this will be the time that they’ll be actively monitoring for issues important to launch.

So to have the greatest impact on the stability of the game for its release date, fans should put it through its paces while Blizzard has access.

Blizzard has also provided some guidance on the specs needed to run WoW Classic, telling fans:

“We’ve finalized the minimum specifications required to play WoW Classic on PC or Mac.

“Please note that these are much lower than the minimum specs required to play Battle for Azeroth. Recommended specs are the same for both.

“In our hardware testing, we found that we were able to successfully run WoW Classic on systems manufactured and released in the 2007-2009 timeframe, and thanks to improvements in how we build and distribute game data, the hard drive space requirements are actually smaller than they were in version 1.12 of original WoW.”

For anyone chomping at the bit to get started, the World of Warcraft Classic beta can be pre-installed today.

Here’s how you can download and install the new WoW Classic Stress Test onto your computer:

  • Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft in the game selection menu on the left.
  • Under the Version dropdown menu, select World of Warcraft Classic. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second dropdown for Account. In that column, select the active account to associate with your WoW Classic install.
  • Click the Install button. You’ll see an installation progress bar that will show you when the installation is complete.

The WoW Classic release date has been set for August 27, 2019, on Battle.Net.
