World Of Warcraft adds two new playable races: Vulpera fox people and Mechagnomes

World Of Warcraft – aren’t they adorable?

The massive new Visions of N’Zoth 8.3 update will be bringing new races to World of Warcraft, as well as a brand-new story.

Although it’s World Of Warcraft Classic that’s been the focus of Blizzard’s attention lately, the regular version of the long-running MMO has just announced a major update that introduces two new allied races, and all without needing a paid-for expansion.

The 8.3 update will introduce the Vulpera as a playable race for the first time, after they first appeared as non-player characters in the Battle For Azeroth expansion.

As you can see, they’re super cute fox people, but even so they’re actually part of the nominally evil Horde faction.

They won’t be a default option when you start the game though, but instead you’ll have to reach Exalted status with their faction and complete an in-game quest before you get the chance to play as one.

The other race are the Mechagnomes, which will have to be unlocked in a similar way and are a sort of steampunk version of the existing Gnome race.

The 8.3 update is called Visions of N’Zoth and is completely free. As well as the new races it also has a new story that involves both the Alliance and the Horde races fighting an elder god.

The update will also restore the Vale of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria (home to the giant pandas that were previous winners of the ‘cutest Warcraft race’ award) and the N’Zoth invasion of Uldum.

There’s no official release date but the content will be added to the public test realm from today.
