Woman's flight to Turkey forced to do emergency landing for surprising reason

A woman went on holiday to Turkey, but claimed the plane had to emergency landing due to a suprising reason.

Charlie Ann, known as charlieann55 on TikTok, shared a video documenting her journey as she couldn’t believe what happened. In the clip, she alleged she and her partner booked a holiday to Turkey, Dalaman with TUI, and flew with its partner airline, SunExpress.

Even though they were looking forward to jetting off, she dubbed the experience an “absolute s***show”. This is because they were stuck onboard for far longer than they expected to be, and that’s not all.

She said: “An hour into the flight we had a tannoy announcement that we were going to be doing an emergency landing due to the plane over-heating, and also being too heavy.

“We had to fly around Greece for another hour until it was safe for us to land. They started handing out water, which they then told us we had to pay for, even though a lot of passengers were getting sick due to the heat.”

When they landed she said they then had to wait for another hour-and-a-half before boarding another plane. She then shows a picture of the second plane they were escorted to, and noted the seats were “covered” in sick.

All in all, Charlie didn’t rate the experience, and said the journey was “vile”. In the video caption, she also claimed the plane had broken armrests, and stated they had “no help” with some of the issues they experienced.

When someone commented, saying: “Omg”, Charlie was also quick to reply where she vented further. She wrote: “Absolutely shocking – they are refusing to handle claims properly.”

Charlie tagged SunExpress in the comments too, but it doesn’t appear to have responded. TUI and SunExpress have been contacted for comment.

According to the TUI website, the company packages up holidays with airlines it trusts, as well as using their own fleet. One of them is SunExpress.

SunExpress is a Turkish-German airline based in Antalya, and it’s been in operation since 1989. It is one of many airlines TUI work alongside.

The TUI website states if your flight is delayed, customers can get help, but things often depend on the length of the delay. It notes the airline will also provide refreshment vouchers for you to use at the airport.

If anyone experiences delays on their outbound flight, the company will automatically rearrange any transfers that are included in the package deal, and inform the hotel of the updated expected time of arrival.
