Woman shares bed with pampered micro-pigs and feeds them avocados and popcorn

Sherrell Williams, 24, from Liverpool, has some very different pets to what you might expect.

She’d always wanted an animal companion, but her asthma meant that a furry friend was out of the question.

Sherrell and partner, Thomas, 24 decided to adopt two miniature pigs, 11-month-old Georgie and six-month-old Miley.

Although it took some convincing from Sherrell, they’re now some of the most pampered pigs you ever did see, sleeping in the couple’s bed and eating avocados.

Sherrell said: ‘At first, Thomas wouldn’t even entertain the idea then when I persuaded him he said they weren’t allowed on the furniture but now he brushes them, cuddles them and they think our bed is theirs.

‘They rule the house, they’re really spoiled. They have a bubble bath once a week with some rubber ducks.’

And baths aren’t the only treat the hogs get. Sherrell says: ‘I like to make sure they’re warm, brush them, if I’m out and see something they might like I’ll get it.

‘I bought them a bed but they ripped it to shreds so they get on the sofa with blankets or if they’re feeling cheeky they get in bed with us.’

The pigs are trained, to the point they’ll jump if Sherrell tells them to. They also run away in guilt when they’ve done something naughty.

Sherrell says the £650 pigs, adopted from Kew Little Pigs in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, make the perfect pets – but she makes sure she doesn’t eat bacon in front of them.

Georgie also has a jealous streak, chasing Miley away if she tries to cuddle Sherrell, but their owner adds: ‘If I ask him for a kiss, he kisses me with his nose which is lovely because it feels really heartfelt.’

They have a strict routine, and Georgie and Miley’s typical day involves waking up at 6.30am. They start off with a bowl of pellets, before exercising in the garden, munching down on avocados, carrots, pears, and popcorn, watching TV, listening to Ed Sheeran, and going for a walk around the garden.

‘They have some pellets for nutrition, and I cover that in coconut oil to keep their skin nice and shiny,’ said Sherrell.

‘If we’re watching TV, they will come and watch it with us and when Ed Sheeran is playing their tails wag.’

Although they get exercise, it’s not actually allowed to put a pig on a leash and take it for a walk, so Sherrell is training them so she can get a license to do so.

She said: ‘When they’re in the front garden, people walk past and do a double take when they realise they’re pigs then they just want to ask loads of questions about them.’

Our first question: How do we get one?
