Woman reveals how she ‘upcycled’ a 1p eBay dresser using paint – and has been praised for the ‘amazing’ result


A WOMAN has revealed how she “upcycled” a dresser she bought for 1p on eBay with just a lick of paint.

The DIY fan, called Beth, was praised for the “amazing” and “fabulous” result of her handy work.

Sharing ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures of the dresser in the Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, she revealed how she had achieved the incredible transformation.

Beth wrote: “Picked this dresser up for the huge sum of 0.01p from eBay, few coats of chalk paint and it looks totally different.”

In the first image, the sizeable piece of furniture had a more traditional mahogany wooden finish.

However, in the second image it looked barely recognisable – sporting a chic grey colour.

Beth later revealed she had used Johnstone’s Revive Chalky Furniture Paint, which currently costs £11.45 from Amazon – making her total spend likely to be less than £12.

Fellow social media users were just as impressed by the results – which they branded “amazing” and “fabulous”.

One person wrote: “Awesome. Looks completely brand new! Upcycle people. It’s amazing what you can do!”

A third shared: “Looks amazing.”

And a fourth added: “Love this!”

Beth revealed that she sanded the painted parts first before she began.

She also explained that she sanded the dresser’s wooden top and finished it off with pewter wood wax.
