  • Jota levels up in the 24th-minute

WOLVES 1-1 MAN UTD

40: Diogo Jota sniffs a chance from that United free-kick and drives deep before Luke Shaw floors him cynically. Referee Mike Dean books him.

Joao Moutinho sends a diagonal, flat cross into the box for Matt Doherty to glance well wide. Chris Smalling didn’t have a clue where he was.

38: Could be a chance this as Bennett drags Shaw to the floor over on the left touchline. The ball is whipped over and Wolves clear.

But wait… Wolves break!

35: United just starting to get a grip again after a sustained period of Wolves pressure. A few niggly challenges flying in but nothing that Mike Dean feels is worth a booking.

32: Sitter! Taxi required for Leander Dendoncker, who has just been served a golden opportunity six-yards from goal. Matt Doherty reaches the byline and pulls it back for Dendoncker to fire to the moon.

29: The very last thing you want to do against Wolves is give them reason to believe! The hosts are very-much in the ascendancy now as Ruben Neves has a pop from distance. Not his finest attempt but the momentum is now with Wolves.

26: Jota has had a hand in nine goals in his last seven Premier League games at Molineux (6 goals, 3 assists), having failed to score or assist a single goal in his first six at the ground.

WOLVES 1-1 MAN UTD | JOTA

24: Manchester United – architects of their own downfall!

Wolves are level courtesy of Diogo Jota. Fred is robbed of possession by Joao Moutinho after David De Gea’s clearance. Two passes later Raul Jimenez slots it through to Jota, who spins and leathers it home.

22: Manchester United have had more different goalscorers (exc. own-goals) than any other Premier League team this season. I promise that’s the last stat I’ll drown you with.

Wolves win a corner… that turns out to be the worst delivery I’ve seen this season. Joao Moutinho knocks it straight out of play.

20: Scott McTominay becomes only the second Manchester United player to score a Premier League goal while wearing the number 39.

The first? Marcus Rashford.

18: Should be 2-0. Jesse Lingard has a completely free header, five-yards out with only Rui Patricio to beat – but he heads it tamely down to the Portuguese stopper.

Moments before that Dalot cut the ball back for McTominay to strike from the edge of the box but Romelu Lukaku inexplicably tackled him!

That is not a typo…

15: Scott McTominay has scored his first ever Manchester United goal in what is his 41st appearance for the club in all competitions.

WOLVES 0-1 MAN UTD | MCTOMINAY

13: How’s that for a finish?! Scott McTominay – take a bow!

Manchester United are rewarded for their bright start as Fred tees up Scott McTominay who, rifles into the far corner from 20-yards out.

Very nice finish indeed. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side generally don’t lose when they score first. Well… they never have!

12: Victor Lindelof gets away with one there. The centre-back decides to fly in to steal the ball of Raul Jimenez but he’s turned. Th Mexico looks for support but red shirts crowd him out.

9: One-way traffic with Manchester United enjoying over 70 percent possession. Not that Wolves will give a jot about that – this is what they’ve done to United, City, Spurs and Arsenal.

7: “Not even a whiff of a chance?” what the HECK am I talking about?!

Diogo Dalot does well to shift the ball past Vinagre before whipping a brilliant delivery into the penalty area. Romelu Lukaku nips between Bennett and Coady but can only head the ball straight at Patricio. Should be 1-0.

5: Quite a lot of spice in the Manchester United display so far. They are pressing quite high up the field with Jesse Lingard flying here, there and everywhere to force a mistake.

Not even a whiff of a chance since Lingard’s 10-second effort.

3: Ey Up! First shot was registered inside 11 seconds by Manchester United. Jesse Lingard simply blazed through the middle straight from kick-off and tested Patricio with a low effort.

WOLVES 0-0 MAN UTD

1: And we’re off! My prediction? Mike Dean to steal the show. Don’t mess with The Dean!

Lights | Camera | Action

19:43: Wolves did their usual lights show before kick off to terrify every epileptic in a 30-mile radius.

Quite a spectacular display they put on for evening games. The players are just emerging from the tunnel now – we’re nearly underway.

The Dean…

19:40: Lovely job. Mike Dean is our referee tonight folks – so even if the game is terrible, at least he’ll provide the entertainment.

Dean has yet to show his 100th Premier League red card…

Build-up

19:35: Wouldn’t be happy with 15-minute’s worth of build-up on Sky Sports if I was a Manchester United or Wolves supporter.

It also looks like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have been given the night off – you’ll have to make do with Matt Murray and Darren Fletcher.

Fletcher’s quality in fairness.

Possession isn’t enough

19:33: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: “Last time [in the FA Cup] we didn’t play well enough against them, didn’t have enough tempo. It was a different type of game for us, we had the ball for 70% of the time but sometimes possession doesn’t mean you’re going to create chances and score goals.”

A word from Nuno

19:30: Who doesn’t think Wolves’ recent FA Cup victory against Manchester United will make a blind bit of difference to tonight’s result.

“That night was special for us but this is a new challenge,” said the Wolves boss. “What we did before doesn’t mean anything. We’ve analysed it and we will try to take the good things we did and try to repeat it.

“But every game is a new challenge. Tomorrow we play against a fantastic team and we will need to be organised and focused. We face an opponent in front of us that requires maximum effort from us.

“We will be ready for it. Football moves on and the games come fast but as I have always said, it is one game at a time.”

Ander…

19:25: So there’s no Ander Herrera in tonight’s squad… Solskjaer says he picked up a knock during training, but Manchester United fans aren’t buying it – and I can see why!

Reports earlier this week claim Ander Herrera has agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The Daily Record say United have refused to meet the Spaniard’s £240,000 a week wage demands and PSG will pick up the pieces.

Twitter round-up

Sola: We all know Dalot is a full back but he is actually better as a winger. I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes a permanent winger under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!

Andrew: In the space of two hours my quite good fantasy football week has become semi-disasterous with Rashford and the triple captained Aguero not playing their second games.

Dave: Herrera is fit but his head been turned. Heart is not with Manchester United.

I feel your pain, Andrew. And Dave, we’ll get onto that in just a moment.

PP and ZZ fine with OGS

19:15: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes his strong bond with Paul Pogba means the Frenchman is fully committed to Manchester United.

But what about those pesky rumours of a mega-money move to Real Madrid, Ole?!

Pogba recently remarked while on international duty that Real are a “dream” club and those comments did not go unnoticed at the LaLiga giants, whose head coach Zinedine Zidane revealed that he liked his compatriot “a lot” over the weekend.

Asked whether Zidane had irked him by speaking about Pogba, the United manager replied: “It doesn’t really concern me because my thought of action then is to sit down and speak to Paul. I’ve had my chat with Paul and we’re fine.

“He’s going to do his utmost here because he knows that I’m very fond of him as a player and a person and he’s important for us here. It’s no issue. He’s happy here.”

Elsewhere…

19:10: Molineux isn’t the only ticket in town folks. There’s another, perhaps more important fixture, elsewhere.

Fulham travel to Watford knowing a defeat will see them follow Huddersfield into the Championship with five games still to play.

Watford: Foster, Femenia, Mariappa, Cathcart, Holebas, Doucoure, Capoue, Hughes, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Deeney.

Fulham: Sergio Rico, Chambers, Le Marchand, Ream, Christie, Cairney, Zambo, Bryan, Babel, Mitrovic, Ryan Sessegnon.

OGS explains

19:05: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking ahead of tonight’s clash: “Ander and Rashy weren’t fit for the game. Anthony got a knock as well. He will be able to come on if needed. Scott and Fred, fresh legs, energy in there. Hopefully we can benefit from that.”

Mystery solved.

Tommy: Strange team that, Some enforced changes. But who cares we went and won in Paris with a weaker team than that! COME ON UNITED! It’s a must win!

Peter: Why are people worried Marcus Rashford is not playing tonight!?? Sure he has been poor for the past 4 or 5 game’s so will it be that much of a miss right now.

Grant: No Rashford, Herrera. Martial on the bench. Looks like it will be Dalot, Lukaku and Lingard up top. How’s everyone feeling?

I’m feeling pretty good thanks, Grant. Pretty good.

Team News – Manchester United

19:00: Do my eyes deceive me? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made SIX changes from the side who beat Watford on Saturday.

You’ll have to forgive me – I’m struggling to understand the formation.

Obviously Marcus Rashford drops out through illness – but that makes room for Romelu Lukaku to lead the line with Jesse Lingard in support.

Elsewhere Victor Lindelof, Fred, Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot return to the starting XI.

Does that leave McTominay in a back three and Dalot on the right flank?

Team News – Wolves

18:53: Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t give a damn about Wolves’ FA Cup semi-final – he’s gone full strength against Manchester United tonight.

That means Raul Jimenez returns alongside Matt Doherty, Ryan Bennett and Ruben Vinagre. Romain Saiss, Adama Traore, Jonny and Ivan Cavaleiro drop to the bench.

Just as well really, I think I would implode with frustration at watching Traore for 90 minutes.

Beware: Dangerous Wolves

18:50: Wolves have won more points against ‘big six’ sides in the Premier League this season than any of the other 14 teams in the competition (10 – W2 D4 L3).

The starting XI…

18:45: No Marcus Rashford but there’s a start for Romelu Lukaku, who is back from injury.

Wolves XI: Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre, Jota, Jimenez.

Subs: Ruddy, Saiss, Jonny, Gibbs-White, Traore, Costa, Cavaleiro.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, Dalot, McTominay, Pogba, Fred, Lingard, Lukaku.

Subs: Romero, Jones, Rojo, Matic, Pereira, Mata, Martial.

Rashy out!

18:40: I’m sorry Fantasy Football managers and Manchester United supporters – but Marcus Rashford is OUT of tonight’s clash.

“Marcus Rashford not with the United squad that has arrived at Molineux. Won’t play because of illness,” says Rob Dawson of ESPN.

Rashford travelled with the rest of the United squad but was taken ill at the team hotel earlier today and sent home.

Molineux test for Ole’s United

18:35: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer richly deserved the permanent role at Old Trafford.

Yet as so often happens, confirmation of his appointment has come alongside questions about United’s recent form.

Two successive defeats were snapped by a wholly unconvincing win over Watford at the weekend.

The way United respond at Wolves – who deservedly knocked the Red Devils out of the FA Cup last month – will provide a big demonstration of Solskjaer’s managerial capabilities.

Evening…

18:30: Hello folks and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League.

What’s this? A midweek game between Wolves and Manchester United at Molineux? Feels quite familiar…

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are back in the Black Country tonight hopeful of reversing last month’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat..

There’s obviously plenty at stake with Arsenal having powered into third position yesterday.

The Red Devils could leapfrog Tottenham and Arsenal with a victory.

So Tottenham could go from third to fifth in the space of three days? If only Moussa Sissoko had a left foot, right?

WOLVES vs MAN UTD – PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM NEWS

Ryan Bennett returns to the Wolves squad for their home game against Manchester United.

The defender has completed a two-match suspension in the Premier League after receiving his 10th yellow card of the season in the competition during the home win over Cardiff a month ago.

Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who has a full squad to choose from, must decide whether Bennett goes straight back into the starting line up.

Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku are expected to be available.

Martial scored what turned out to be the winner in United’s 2-1 victory over Watford but later limped off at Old Trafford over the weekend, while Lukaku has been struggling with a foot injury in recent weeks.

Solskjaer, though, revealed that the forward pair are in contention for the trip to Molineux. Alexis Sanchez, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian continue to miss out, however.
