Savvy Kemal is daddy of savers
A MONEY-smart dad says he will save his two young sons £320,000 by teaching them how to shop savvy.
Kemal Poleon is a seasoned bargain-hunter with a rule that he shops for uncomplicated products that are good value, saving more than £2,500 a year.

The 40-year-old, from Oxford, believes the knowledge is the best thing he can pass down to his boys, aged five and three, and on Father’s Day he is urging other dads to do similar.
In a survey by phone and broadband provider Plusnet, 77 per cent of dads said it is important to teach their kids the value of money, while 63 per cent said they plan to pass down savings tips.
Kemal saves £100 a year by shopping around for gas and electricity using Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis’s automated switching service.
He also shops out of season, picking up Christmas goodies when at their cheapest.
When he spots a good deal on clothes, he buys multiple sizes for his growing children, saving £250 a year.
He also makes extra cash by bulk- buying deals and reselling on eBay.
He said: “Recently in Tesco I spotted printer cartridges for £2. I ended up spending £36 on 18 cartridges and put them all on eBay. I sold three packs at £18 each, so I’m already in profit.
“It comes down to effort – I don’t want to be spending my weekends on eBay to make £10 but if I can buy five and make £50, it’s worth it.”
Kemal also makes £150 a year from TopCashback, which allows you to claim a percentage of purchases back from retailers.
He saved £600 in a year by switching his mobile phone and broadband contracts.
By having his mobile SIM-only plan and broadband with Plusnet, he pays just £6 for unlimited calls and texts plus 6GB of mobile data, and £21.99 for unlimited fibre broadband, compared to the UK combined average of £75.
He said: “I’ve had Plusnet’s mobile package for four years but added my broadband in November because I was paying £3 per month more for slower speeds with TalkTalk. Now I’m getting ten times the speed for a lower price.”
Kemal saves a total of £2,500 a year on bills. If his sons followed his tips from age 18, they would save £160,000 each over their life. Kemal said: “Online price-comparison and deals sites put control in the hands of the consumer. Having kids also made me realise a couple of things. I’m not so able to fritter money and I want to set an example.”

Food banks
FAMILIES who use food banks can get free internet and phone services with a new Vodafone scheme.
A million people will enjoy a year’s phone access plus a handset, 20GB of data and unlimited texts and calls.

The Trussell Trust, which provides emergency food to needy families, will use its 1,300 centres to distribute SIM cards.
Vodafone chief Ahmed Essam said: “Over the past year, people have realised how important connectivity is, and the role it plays in work, play, education, healthcare and keeping in touch with those closest to us. We are committing to helping one million more people get connected.”
Vodafone also unveiled a more flexible payment plan, Evo.
It lets customers decide up front how much they want to pay for a phone or watch and how long they want to pay off the rest, from a year to 36 months.
They can also opt to upgrade early, and trade-in prices are guaranteed after being agreed via an app.
