Willian has hailed Chelsea team-mate N’Golo Kante as his toughest opponent and backed Frank Lampard to become a ‘great manager’.

Kante played for Leicester City before joining Chelsea in 2016 and Willian says the French World Cup-winner was one of the ‘most annoying’ players he faced.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Kante has developed into a firm fans’ favourite and is still regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football.

Asked to name a player he struggled against, Brazil international Willian told Bolivia Talk Show: ‘I played against Kante, who today is my team mate, when he was at Leicester.

‘He is the kind of player who you have to dribble past like ten times because he always comes back.

‘So he is one of the most annoying players I’ve faced, also during training.’

Blues legend Lampard took over at his former club last summer and had led Chelsea to fourth in the Premier League before the season was suspended.

On the current Chelsea manager, Willian added: ‘I had the pleasure of playing with him, a great player.

‘He is improving and has everything it takes to be a great manager and he’s a great man as well with a great heart.

‘I have a great relationship with him and I love working with him.’

Willian, 31, has made more than 300 appearances for Chelsea since signing from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 but will be out of contract come the summer.
