Coachella organizers are being urged to drop Travis Scott from their line-up after at least eight people died during his Astroworld festival on Friday.

Around 300 attendees were treated for injuries in Houston, Texas after a deadly crowd surge left fans compressed and unable to breathe during the rapper’s annual music event.

The 30-year-old rapper is now being sued for ‘inciting mayhem’ while onstage at NGR Park on November 5, while a Change.org petition is pressuring Coachella promotional firm Goldenvoice and their company CEO Paul Tollett to remove Scott from their upcoming event.

The Sicko Mode hitmaker is set to take the stage in southern California in April 2022.

So far, over 25,000 signatures have been added to the appeal which is titled, ‘Remove Travis Scott as a Goldenvoice performer’

It comes after the Highest In The Room rapper pulled out from a forthcoming appearance at the Day N Vegas festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was originally slated as a headline act.

Sources stated the Sicko Mode rapper is ‘too distraught to play’ after the tragedy which took place at his event.

Among those killed was a 14-year-old child, named as John Hilgert, while Danish Baig, 27, died while trying to save his fiancee.

Family members of the victims have begun to publicly pay tribute to their loved ones who died while others have started to take legal action.

Indeed, Scott and guest performer Drake are being sued for $1,000,000 (£741,000) over the ‘preventable’ stampede.

One concert-goer, Kristian Paredes, has reportedly filed a lawsuit naming Scott, Drake – real name Aubrey Graham – and concert promoter Live Nation as well as others for negligence and alleging that the rappers helped to incite the crowd.

The incident began around 9.15pm on Friday, according to Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña, who told reporters: ‘The crowd began to compress toward the front of the stage, and people began to panic.’

The TKN rapper did stop the music several times during his set after spotting fans who had ‘passed out’ or were in distress and asking security to help them out.

The musician, who is expecting his second child with Kylie Jenner, shared a statement of his sorrow about the tragedy on Saturday.

He has since offered to pay for the funerals of those who died and will issue full refunds to all who attended the festival.
