Will there be 'A Quiet Place 3'? John Krasinski provides an update

A Quiet Place proved to be one of the surprise hits of 2018, with John Krasinski’s all silent sci-fi horror film making over $340 million (£261 million) at the box office, after being met with superlative reviews.

It wasn’t much of a surprise then when it was announced that Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe would be returning for a sequel, with Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou joining the cast, and John Krasinski writing and directing again.

Knowing Hollywood, there’s every chance that the sequel, which will also work as a prequel, showing what happened when the mysterious aliens first arrived on Earth, could spark another film, too.

Krasinski was asked that very question by Total Film earlier this week, which provoked him to admit, “I set up a couple of tiny little Easter eggs in II that not only explain more about I, but would allow for more mythology. But, being a Boston Catholic, I can’t be like, ‘Yeah, of course, there’ll be a third!’ No, not at all.”

Clearly, Krasinski is very, very cautious about discussing a third film before the second has even arrived. So much so that he hasn’t even spoken to Paramount about it yet. Although he did admit that they are “on the same page in that this isn’t one of those franchises where we keep pumping them out if they make money.”

“I think we’ve proven that this is an original idea that is really beloved by people in a way that… I don’t want to break that promise to people.”

That being said, if Krasinski can “think of a way to continue this world as elegantly as people deserve” then they’ll definitely proceed.

Everything will become much clearer when A Quiet Place 3 is released on March 20.
