Will Queen perform live at the Oscars 2019?

We can officially thank Bohemian Rhapsody for being so good that Queen couldn’t help but say yes to performing at the 2019 Oscars.

Freddie Mercury, unfortunately, passed away at the age of 45 due to an AIDS-related illness back in 1991.

So, Adam Lambert will kindly join the band and sing Freddie’s vocals in his place.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the big news on Monday, February 18, 2019.

They tweeted: “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? We welcome Queen and Adam Lambert to this year’s Oscars!”.

The band was quick to reply and said: “Queen and Adam Lambert will ROCK YOU”.

Could Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek join them?

Fans were quick to start speculating about whether Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek will make an appearance on stage.

Considering how well he has portrayed Freddie Mercury in the movie, we are sure that Rami would fit right in with the band.

We will have to wait and see if he will join them as the Academy seems determined to keep it a secret.

The big award show is scheduled to take place TONIGHT (February 24, 2019) in Hollywood.

Who else will perform at the ceremony?

Queen and Adam Lambert won’t be the only performers of the night.

Bette Midler went on Twitter on Saturday, February 16, to announce that she would perform a song from Mary Poppins Returns.

She tweeted: “So, (drum roll) Ladies and Gentlemen, I will be chanteusing (that’s singing) on the Oscars on Feb 24… The nominated song from ‘Mary Poppins’… ‘The Place Where Lost Things Go’… So excited!!”

Jennifer Hudson will also take the stage to perform “I’ll Fight” from the documentary RBG, while Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga come together to sing “Shallow” from A Star Is Born.

If that isn’t enough to entertain you, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings are also set to perform “When a Cowboy Trader His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

BAFTAs 2019: Alfonso Cuaron is now a firm favourite to scoop the 2019 Oscar too after winning Best Director BAFTA Award
