Why you shouldn’t say ‘love you’ too much to your partner: Behaviour expert issues warning

Judi James is a leading body language and social behaviour expert.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online, she revealed what risks you pose when using overly expressive words too easily.

Judi said: “I think people do use the word ‘love’ a lot.

“You hear them on the phone saying ‘love you’ and it’s probably the guy that’s come to clean the bins.

“It’s almost like a general sign off, which is fine and it is lovely.

“It makes the world feel wonderful, but then unfortunately where it can flounder is when you genuinely do fall in love with somebody you’ve got nowhere else to go with your conversation.

“You’ve already been there under quite casual relationships so how do you then express yourself when you do genuinely fall in love.”

However, it’s not only the word ‘love’ that is being over-used, according to the body language expert.

Other overused exaggerated terms may also be a detriment to you.

Judi added: “That is the problem with all emotions and all over-done and over-exaggerated displays.

“They feel fun but the problem is it is then very, very difficult to express yourself when you do feel really angry or really in love or really upset.

“Because you’ve already been saying it when you’ve only been slightly angry or slightly upset or, maybe quite fancy that person.”

Judi added that popular reality show Love Island is seeing the downsides of over-exaggerating words.

She said: “They’re falling in love in a matter of nano-seconds, and clearly they’re not.

“Unfortunately there’s no time for the real emotion to kick in.

“The words and the body language has already expressed it before the real emotions have been started to form and that’s where it all starts to go badly wrong.”

Only days ago, the expert revealed how you can tell if your partner is lying to you through subtle signs.
