HOLIDAYMAKERS have had to put their trips on hold this year as the UK government bans all but essential travel.
However, families are already planning their next holiday – and picking a holiday in Britain may be the best choice.

Essential travel also prohibits UK travel, meaning holidays to the coastline and to Cornwall are out of the question.
Yet when the lockdown is lifted, a trip around the country will also be the best place to spend your money.
The pound has dropped against the dollar, meaning trips abroad are likely to be more expensive.
Spending your money in the country means you are likely to get much more for your cash when the lockdown is over, as well as avoid spending money on expensive flights.
The UK tourist industry is also struggling – popular hotspots such as Cornwall, Devon and Wales warning holidaymakers not to visit to prevent the spread of the virus.

However, this has also resulted in local attractions and hotels see their profits drop with an estimated £2 billion to be lost during Easter, according to Sky News.
Thankfully, the UK has some beautiful spots which rival tourist attractions abroad.
Many of the locations look very similar to more exotic destinations such as Bali or Hawaii.
From flowing waterfalls that wouldn’t look out of place in a tropical jungle, to sandy beaches on a Caribbean island, here are some of the best places to add to your future bucket-list.
Tenby, Wales

With palm trees, golden sands, blue sea and colourful buildings, Tenby could easily be mistaken for the coast of Bali when the sun decides to shine.
You can in fact find this paradise in the South West of Wales, with the town of Tenby boasting three amazing beaches; North, South and Castle, each with its own character.
Langamull beach, Isle of Mull, Scotland

Dubbed the Mull Caribbean due to its likeness to a Caribbean island beach, this beach is ‘one of Mull’s best kept secrets’.
Visitors are treated to white shell sand that looks straight out of a holiday brochure.
The stunning secluded beach requires a good 20-minute walk to get there, but the spectacular views on a clear day make a trip well worth it.
High Force Falls, County Durham

With luscious greenery and fast flowing waterfalls, you’d be forgiven for thinking this location was within Costa Rican jungle.
The High Force Falls in County Durham is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in England, with a 21-metre drop into the beautiful plunge pool below.
Tinside Lido, Plymouth

With stunning poolside views and a striking resemblance to the famous Icebergs Pool at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, a visit to Tinside Lido in the summer is a must.
Set in a beautiful location overlooking the sea at the tip of Plymouth Hoe, the salt water swimming pool offers visitors a great location for swimming and sunbathing.
Portmeirion Village, North Wales

If you’re after a taste of Italy then look no further than the little village of Portmeirion.
Its unique architecture was actually designed and built specifically in the style of an Italian village by Sir Clough William-Ellis between 1925 and 1975. The quaint village can be found in Gwynedd in the North of Wales.
Barafundle Bay, Wales

Barafundle Bay, close to the village of Stackpole in Pembrokeshire, is a beautiful area that nestles between cliffs and could be easily mistaken for a secluded bay on a Greek island.
The beach used to be owned by the Cawdor family of Stackpole Court and was their private beach.
Now, it’s open to everyone and previously made the list as one of the top 12 beaches in the world. The Good Holiday Guide also named it the ‘best beach in Britain’.
Kynance Cove, Cornwall

This cove is “One of the most photographed and painted locations in Cornwall.”
With beautiful white sand and blue sea, Kynance wouldn’t look out of place on the Sardinian coastline.
At low tide there are plenty of sea caves and islands to explore and its serpentine rock-towers has even made it the perfect set for BBC One TV show Poldark.
West Bay, Dorset

With towering orange cliffs and beautiful clear waters, West Bay in Dorset could easily be mistaken for the Algarve.
The seaside location is perfect for family holidays and coastal walks and the nearby market town of Bridport has a reputation for great culture and food.
Sgwd Yr Eira, Wales

The Sgwd Yr Eira waterfall in Wales looks like a picture-perfect spot in Thailand, but the waterfall can actually be found in the Melte Valley in the Brecon Beacons.
Translated literally as “fall of snow,” visitors can even able to walk along the path behind the curtain of water, which makes for the perfect photo opportunity.
