Why Jordan Henderson is wearing different coloured socks to Liverpool team-mates

Fans noticed Jordan Henderson’s socks were a little different to the rest of his Liverpool team-mates against Chelsea.

While Jurgen Klopp’s men wore all red socks, the Liverpool captain’s were half red and white.

Liverpool’s official home socks for this season are red and white, but when they come up against teams playing in white socks – like Chelsea – they change it up and wear all red to avoid a kit clash.

On first glance it appeared that Henderson had simply put the wrong socks on at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, but upon closer it became clear that wasn’t actually the case at all.

For some reason Henderson has decided to cut the foot section off of his socks.

He has presumably done this to prevent his feet from becoming restricted in his boot.

Henderson appears to have been caught out upon learning Liverpool would be wearing all-red socks on Sunday, as he only had white bandages for his feet.

These bandages would ordinarily go unnoticed as the bottom half of Liverpool’s official socks are white, but on this occasion they stood out like a sore thumb.

Kyle Walker is often seen sporting holes in his socks to prevent his calf muscles from becoming restricted when he’s playing for Manchester City.
