Jade Goody’s mum vowed to stay away from the NTAs after branding Jeff Brazier a “c**k,” and secretly watching her grandson Bobby Brazier win his first-ever NTA at last year’s bash.
In 2023, Jackiey Budden, who is the maternal grandmother of EastEnders actor Bobby, 20, and his brother Freddie, 19, had audience tickets to watch him pick up a gong at London’s O2.
She told fans: “I’m so proud of him [Bobby]. He’s incredible. I didn’t allow them to know I was there. I didn’t want to see their dad. He’s a c**k.”
But this year she stayed away from the glitzy bash with an insider saying: “She didn’t want to cause any problems for Bobby. She’s so proud of him. It’s his night and she didn’t want to take that away from him.”
Last year Bobby won the Rising Star award for his role as Freddie Slater in EastEnders.
He paid tribute to Jeff on stage and said: “This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my Dad.
“Over the course of the last 20 years, I’ve consistently heard him say ‘because I can’. It was a mantra, or a motto of his. And him just saying that – because I can! Why not?”
This year he presented Coronation Street actor Peter Ash with an award for Best Serial Drama Performance.
Big Brother star Jade died aged 27 in March 2009 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. She rose to fame in the third series of Big Brother on Channel 4 in 2002 before starting a relationship with TV presenter Jeff.
Jeff previously blasted Jackiey insisting she “overstated” how much time she spent with his sons.
But then in 2021 Bobby revealed he had reconnected with Jackiey after they lost contact. Speaking to his fans on Instagram, Bobby said: “I didn’t see her for ages – for way too long – but I went to see her twice recently.
“And honestly if there’s one woman you shouldn’t underestimate it’s my nan. Honestly, she’s like a wizard! It’s nuts.”
Last year Bobby appeared on Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancer Diane Buswell and finished second place.
While he didn’t win any awards this year, he celebrated at the NTA after-party with his co-stars including Mick Carter actor Danny Dyer.
The stars were served canapes and a bar packed with Cruzcampo, Heineken 0.0, Inch’s Cider and Kylie Minogue Wines.
After Bobby’s stint on EastEnders came to an end, he appeared in Race Across The World with Jeff and brother Freddie.
He’s now set to appear in new Paramount+ drama Curfew alongside Mandip Gill, known for her role in Doctor Who, and Alexandra Burke.
The drama, set to premiere on October 10, is an adaptation of Jayne Cowie’s novel After Dark and takes place in an alternate reality where men are subject to a strict 7pm-7am curfew.
Bobby plays a character called James who speaks out in opposition to the harsh law that is imposed.
