Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Jeremy Clarkson takes brutal swipe at Piers Morgan

Jeremy Clarkson has proved a hit since taking the reins over on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. So much so, ITV has decided to air earlier episodes with the Grand Tour presenter at the helm every Tuesday amid the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, just weeks after he fronted an all-new series earlier this month. While it’s given fans another chance to see if contestants pocketed the elusive £1million, it also revealed a cheeky swipe Jeremy took at his ITV colleague, Piers Morgan.

In tonight’s episode of Millionaire, Jeremy welcomed Eleanor as the first contestant to take to the hot seat.

Eleanor impressed in the fastest finger round, seeing off the competition by securing her answers in little over three seconds.

And the ITV quiz contestant carried her quizzing prowess onto the main table, sailing through the first few questions with all her lifelines intact.

While the audience was left applauding the quizzer’s knowledge, they were also left giggling at a swipe Jeremy dished out to Good Morning Britain star, Piers.

The dig came when Jeremy asked Eleanor a question about GMB, which Piers regularly presenter alongside Susanna Reid.

The former Top Gear star asked: “In 2014, Susanna Reid co-presented the first episode of which new television programme?”

The possible answers were A) Good Morning Britain, B) Good Afternoon Britain, C) Good Evening Britain or D) Good Night Britain.

Eleanor admitted she hadn’t watched the show but knew the correct answer was Good Morning Britain.

Eleanor continued her impressive time on the show, correctly answering question after question.

So much so, she didn’t set her safety net until she’d reached the £125,000 mark.

With just a few questions to go, all was set for Eleanor to pocket the £1million jackpot.

However, she stumbled on the £250,000 question but was still chuffed to be walking away with a six-figure sum.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is available to stream on the ITVHub now.
