How many episodes are in new series of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

ITV revamped the original series in September 2018 with a new outing hosted by Jeremy Clarkson.

Since then, Clarkson has fronted two seasons of the quiz show and will now be returning with a new series.

The latest series of Who Wants to be a Millionaire begins tonight (August 24) at 9.10 on ITV.

ITV has confirmed that this series of the show will have 11 episodes.

These episodes will air twice weekly on Saturday and Sunday nights to give viewers the chance to test their knowledge along with the contestants.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is one of the most popular British quiz shows after it was originally created by David Briggs back in 1998.

The original series was hosted by Chris Tarrant for 30 seasons and 592 episodes.

Tarrant was the host up until 2014 over the course of its run.

The quiz show challenges contestants to take on multiple choice questions as they battle to win cash prizes.

During the shows, viewers will have a chance to win £1,000,000 by answering 15 questions on their way to winning the life changing prize.

They’ll also be provided once again with the familiar lifelines of Ask The Audience, Phone a Friend and 50:50.

The return of new lifeline Ask the Host will also be back, giving contestants the chance to speak to Clarkson.

There are also some new features involved in the latest revamp of the quiz show, including a producer being present for the phone a friend lifeline to make sure those called are not just Googling the answer.

Contestants in the revamped series have not had much success so far with many leaving during the early questions.

However, earlier this year, one contestant made it all the way to the final question for the first time since 2006.

Whether any more contestants will be as lucky this series will all be revealed when it returns tonight.

Fans of the show will also be able to see a dramatisation of one its most controversial moments in the near future.

A new tense drama called Quiz will examine the 2001 cheating scandal of Charles Ingram that came out after his £1,000,000 win.

Directed by Stephen Frears, the ITV series will star Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant, Matthew Macfadyen as Charles Ingram and Sian Clifford as Diana Ingram.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? returns tonight at 9.10pm on ITV
