Sam Gowland, 24, is from Middlesbrough.
Before he joined the cast of Love Island he was working on an oil rig.
His cousin Jonathan Grounds plays football for Birmingham City, and he’s mates with Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan.
He watched every series of Love Island before he took part, and always thought he would be a good fit for the show, but he was in a relationship at the time so couldn’t apply.

Sam is a fan of both mixed martial arts and boxing, taking snaps of himself at matches.

FAME MMA UK‘s first event on British shores is set to take place at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on December 14th, 2019.

According tor reports Sam Gowland has managed to woo his girlfriend Chloe Ferry back, to the point that they are even living together again.
A source said: “Chloe is back with Sam and she’s spent the past few days holed up at the place where they used to live together.
“Sam went all out begging for her back and against her mum and friend’s pleas – Chloe has now taken Sam back.
“She’s tried to keep it from her pals and she hasn’t told some of them they’re officially back together. Chloe knows it will make some of of friends furious because Sam treated her so badly but he is so persuasive and Chloe is adamant he’s changed.
The pair began dating in October 2017 after he joined the cast of Geordie Shore.
The northerner signed up for the show along with fellow newbie Stephanie Snowdon.

Is Sam Gowland still on Geordie Shore?
The on/off pair had a furious bust up in July after Sam discovered Chloe had snogged another man in Portugal while filming Geordie Shore.
Despite Chloe insisting she was single at the time, Sam went ballistic when he found out.
His threatening behaviour was deemed inappropriate by show bosses who acted swiftly to axe him from Geordie Shore.
In August it was revealed Sam wanted to sue his ex after claiming their very public split had caused him stress and lost him earnings.

When was Sam Gowland on Love Island?
The 24-year-old appeared on the third series of Love Island in 2017.
He had two chances to win the show and on both occasions saw himself dumped from the island.
Gowland was originally dumped from the island alongside Chloe Crowhurst.
However, he returned in the final week of the show and got together with Georgia Harrison.
The pair continued to date after they left the villa but they split after claims that he “cheated” on her.
