THE Prodigy frontman Keith Flint was found dead at his home in Essex aged 49 in March 2019 leaving behind his wife Mayumi Kai.
The iconic star has always described the Japanese DJ as the one who “saved” him. We explain who she is and why she was so special to Flint.
Who is Mayumi Kai?
Mayumi Kai is a Japanese DJ, actress and model from Tokyo.
She performs under the name DJ Gedo Super Mega B**ch and she added “Mrs Flint 4” to her stage name.
Kai married Flint in 2006 and the guest list was said to include Liam Gallagher, David Gest, Natalie Appleton and Mat Willis.
However the couple had split and put their Essex farmhouse up for sale.
Flint had previously described his wife as “beautiful, f***ing cool”.
He said: “My wife loves the house, the dogs, and the animals we have around us, the deer and the fox that comes and pokes his head through the hedge.”
How did Keith Flint and Mayumi Kai meet?
Keith Flint previously told The Times how they met.
He admitted she saved him from a life of drugs.
He said: “We were talking and she just walked into this room we were in and you know how it is, I just couldn’t talk, I was overwhelmed.
“I’d done my fair share of drugs and shagging around.
“Look, we all like to get busy, but in truth I was a bit worn through with it.”
The pair have travelled throughout Europe together and they loved to explore rural Essex together.

Who did Keith Flint date before Mayumi Kai?
Before he married Mayumi back in 2006, Keith famously dated Gail Porter and rapper Jentina Chapman.
TV presenter Gail dated the singer from 1999-2000 before dumping him for Dan Hipgrave, who she married in 2001.
Since news broke of his passing, Gail has taken to social media to express her grief.
On Twitter, she simply posted: “Heartbroken.”
In 2004 he started dating teen rapper Jentina Chapman but the couple only remained together for seven months.

When did Keith Flint die?
Essex police were called to Flint’s home on March 4.
An Essex Police spokesman told The Sun Online: “We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday.
“We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
At the time, Mayumi Kai was 6,000 miles away in Tokyo, Japan, where she was getting ready to play a DJ set at the nightclub Atom Tokyo.
A post from her official Twitter account retweeted a Japanese news story sharing The Prodigy’s statement calling him “a true pioneer, innovator and legend”.
However, The Prodigy co-founder Liam Howlett said Flint had “taken his own life”.
Howlett, who founded The Prodigy with Flint in their hometown of Braintree, Essex, wrote on social media: “The news is true. I can’t believe I am saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.
“I’m shell shocked, f****** angry, confused and heart broken r.i.p brother.”
