From standing up for herself in clashes with other camp-mates to bagging herself a toyboy admirer in Myles Stephenson, Kate Garraway has definitely earned her spot in Sunday’s I’m a Celebrity finale.
Whether she leaves Queen of the Jungle or not, she’ll likely be coming home to an army of new fans – but she’ll be most excited to reunite with her family no doubt.
She’s been open about missing them on the show, as in one episode she cried as she said she was forgetting what her kids ‘heads smelled like.’
As her time in the jungle draws to a close, here’s a closer look at who’s she married to and their children.
Who is Kate Garraway’s husband?
Kate Garraway is married to Derek Draper.
They met in autumn of 2004, and got married in 2005 in Camden.
Kate was previously married to TV boss Ian Rumsey, but their marriage ended in 2002.
Speaking to the Guardian in 2005 about how Derek and she met, Kate explained it was her colleague from GMTV, political correspondent Gloria De Piero, who set them up.
‘I was chatting in a bar with [Gloria] when suddenly she went “I’ve had an epiphany! You and Derek Draper!” But Gloria pitched a person to me who was the old Derek Draper. She said oh, he’s amazing, he practically runs the Groucho Club, he runs Soho House, he’s amazing. And when I met him he wasn’t anything like that at all. I liked him straight away; he was funny and clever. But I thought he seemed rather sad.’
Despite her success on the show so far, her biggest fan is still hubby Derek.
He recently spoke with The Sun, hitting back at some viewers wondering if she had smuggled in some makeup, saying: ‘Take it from someone who knows – she never looks better than first thing in the morning.
‘When we go on romantic breaks I beg her not to put make-up on. She’s naturally beautiful, and adorable and awesome, and she’s smashing it in the jungle.’
The couple share two children – Darcey, 13, and William, 10.
What is Derek Draper’s job?
Draper is a former political lobbyist who was involved in the ‘Lobbygate’ scandal in 1998.
The scandal involved Draper, a former Labour aide, being taped by an undercover reporter from The Observer as he offered to sell access to government ministers.
Following this, he left politics – and the country – in 1998, before returning as a trained psychotherapist in 2004.
He is the author of two books, Blair’s 100 Days and Life Support.
