Former Alabama quarterback Jay Barker was arrested on Saturday, 15 January, on a felony domestic violence charge.
He allegedly tried to hit his wife Sara Evans with a car.

Country music singer Sara Evans has been married to Jay Barker since 2008.
The artist has released over eight studio albums and one Christmas album. She is estimated to have a net worth of $16 million.
It’s understood that the couple were initially introduced by a mutual friend. They were both going through divorces and bonded over their similar life situations.
The pair tied the knot on a farm just outside of Nashville on June 14, 2008.
However, they have been separated and are currently living in different homes.
Why was Jay Barker arrested?
Jay Barker, 49, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and placed on a 12-hour hold in the Davidson County Jail.
According to the Tennessean, court files claim Barker tried to run over two people who were leaving a party around 1:30am Saturday.
As they pulled into the driveway of a nearby home, Barker allegedly reversed his vehicle “at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Sara reportedly contacted police after the incident when Jay allegedly drove away.
He later returned to the scene and spoke with officers, officials said, the New York Post reports. After speaking with several witnesses, he was reportedly arrested.
The report says there was probable cause to believe Barker did unlawfully attempt to strike the victim with a vehicle.
He was released after posting a $10,000 bond at 7:30pm Saturday night.
A court date is set for March 22.

Jay’s son Braxton Barker, was a walk-on backup quarterback at Alabama for the past four seasons. He announced recently that he is entering the transfer portal to leave for another school.
