Who are the Bad Boy Chiller Crew?

Born and raised in Bradford, the trio behind Bad Boy Chiller Crew, Gareth Kelly (GK), Kane Welsh and Sam Robinson (Clive), have broken through the West Yorkshire bassline scene into the mainstream.

While the pandemic impacted countless musicians, lockdown only accelerated the MC trio’s success. Their debut single, 450, released in 2020 received over 14 million views on YouTube.

From writing a song for a local pizzeria advert to filming a mini-documentary with Vice, Bad Boy Chiller Crew have resonated with an audience across the UK with their down to earth nature and Jackass-style humour.

Gareth Kelly (GK)

Gareth Kelly known professionally as GK began his career as a DJ in his hometown in the mid-2010s.

As a child, Gareth struggled throughout school and at 15 he was switched onto a cooking course at college.

The kitchen soothed his anger and he began to work as a chef.

Following some time as an ice cream man, GK admits there wasn’t many opportunities in Bradford so the trio set out to make them for themselves.

GK told NME: “There’s nowt much that gets offered to us from leaving school. We’ve always had to work us backsides off.”

The 25-year-old rapper reached out to Kane and Clive after watching their videos on YouTube and soon after they began creating together as Bad Boy Chiller Crew.

Kane Welsh

Throughout his teens, bunking off school and playing sports, Kane’s dream was to work in football or with cars.

It was only when Kane began uploading videos to YouTube of pranks, drinking games and his day-to-day antics in Bradford that he began to see the potential in social media.

The 24-year-old’s sense of humour resonated with viewers, which led him to gain a large following before he began collaborating with the rest of the boys.

Sam (Clive) Robinson

Sam Robinson professionally known as Clive is a life-long friend of Kane’s renowned for his signature mullet.

Similar to his best mate, Clive also created Snapchat videos while working menial jobs he was disinterested in until the duo decided to create them together.

On their last shift packing boxes at a warehouse, Clive and Kane began recording skits together before they finally met Gareth and started to create music

Their new ITV2 show will document the trio’s life from Bradford to viral fame and their first performances at Reading and Leeds Festival 2021.
