Whitney Houston releases new music from beyond the grave

The chart-topping singer tragically died in 2012 at the age of 48.

But Whitney Houston will be making a return to the music scene and releasing a decades-old song.

The single, entitled Higher Love, is a cover of the 1986 Steve Winwood pop anthem but has been remixed by DJ Kygo to give it a more contemporary vibe.

Whitney’s vocals on the track were originally recorded for her third album I’m Your Baby Tonight before she decided to shift into a more R&B direction.

The original cover of Higher Love was subsequently only released as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the album.

However, her estate later took the recording and gave it to Kygo who explained how excited he was to be given such a great opportunity.

He said: “I was honoured when the Whitney Houston estate reached out and presented me with the opportunity to work with one of the greatest female vocalists of all time.”

Whitney only ever performed the song live during a month-long concert tour in the country in 1990.

It comes after Whitney’s former The Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner made a surprising revelation about the poster for the 1992 movie last week.
