The presenter has now filmed the trailer for the upcoming series – which should be dropping very soon (you can get a sneak peek at the top of this article).

Why is the Winter Love Island being filmed in South Africa?

It would be far too cold for our Islanders to wandering around in skimpy bikinis and swimming trunks, so producers have decided to use a different location to the usual Majorca villa.

Cape Town will have an average heat of between 28 to 30 degrees which means those sexy singletons can bask in the sunshine whilst pursuing their villa crush.

The mid-year series will return then to Europe for a summer of love closer to home in May/June 2020.

Why are they doing a Winter Love Island?

Paul Mortimer, Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions at ITV, said: “Off the back of a record-breaking year, we’re delighted to be bringing an extra series of our biggest and sunniest show to the 2020 schedule.

“Love Island has proven yet again to be the perfect format that engages younger audiences.

“In response to this viewer appetite, a new batch of young singletons will deliver some highly anticipated post-Christmas romance and drama from our new and luxurious location.”
