ITV2 has a Halloween hit on its hands with its show Killer Camp – which has already been dubbed ‘Murder Love Island‘.

The show has a pretty ingenious premise, taking 11 unsuspecting contestants to what they think is a summer camp style lake lodge, only to tell them there is a killer among them – and leaving them to work out who it is while they also try to avoid becoming the next victim.

And it’s wasted no time in dispatching the unfortunate participants, with one being involved in a fiery explosion before even reaching camp, a second being messily dispatched in a Segway accident, and one unfortunate being impaled in the eye by a giant penis (yes, you heard correctly).

We can’t wait to see what happens next at the 80s-inspired lodge – but just where was the series actually filmed? And when can you tune in?

Here’s what you need to know…

Where is Killer Camp filmed?

Camp Pleasant, the far-from-pleasant camp in the show, might look like some kind of idyllic American-style summer camp (albeit with a whole lot of slasher movie tropes thrown in) – but it wasn’t filmed across the pond.

As it happens the series was shot in a forest in Lithuania – which in itself presented the makers with a few challenges.

For starters, the weather proved unpredictable – turning from sunshine to thunderstorms almost instantaneously – meaning sets often had to be moved from one location to another as much of the action was filmed outdoors.

‘However, the makers were also faced with the task of having only a small opportunity to film at night – when the murder and campfire scenes were show – as being the summer, it wasn’t getting dark until almost midnight.

Filming the murders under the cover of darkness, and being near summer solstice in Lithuania, meant we would only have six hours of darkness to film before sunrise,’ director Mike Parker told Broadcast Now.

‘It was crucial to crack each murder at the storyboarding phase, and so we went into each sequence with a clear vision and each shot was factored into the tight schedule.’

All of which meant that filming days began in the afternoon, around 2pm – and often went on until 2am.

When is Killer Camp on?

The series continues on ITV2 on Tuesday night at 9pm, and continues at the same time until the series finale on Thursday night at 9pm.

If you’ve missed any episodes you can catch up via the ITV Hub.
