When will David Metcalfe find out about Maya and Jacob?
At the moment no one actually knows when the penny will drop for poor David. He’s not the sharpest tool in the box at the best of times and has already missed several clues that Maya has been abusing his son.
Fans labelled shopkeeper David ‘thick as s***’ for not noticing that Maya has been grooming Jacob right under his nose.
In March he found an earring of Maya’s in the village hall where she and Jacob had met up. But David still remained oblivious.
She then sent David away on a little break and offered to look after his son and still David didn’t put two and two together.
Viewers snapped and took to social media to slam how dumb David was.
One wrote on Twitter: “You still wouldn’t get it David, if those 2 were s****ing in front of you!!!!! You daft s**.#Emmerdale.”
Another tweeted: “David has the brains of a rocking horse.#emmerdale.”

What does actor Matthew Wolfenden say?
Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David, has revealed that things are going to get darker for his character when he finally realises what’s going on.
He told OK!: “At the moment for me it’s not too difficult as David doesn’t have a clue that it’s going on behind his back.
“He’s naive to it and he thinks his relationship is going really well, but I’ve just read some scripts of when things take a turn for the worst and that will all be quite emotional.
“That’s when it’s going to be difficult for me.
“The storyline’s set to get darker which will be hard to play, particularly because I’m a dad.”
