QUEEN of the South has hooked fans with its dramatic story about a woman’s journey to becoming a drug lord after her boyfriend is murdered by a cartel in Mexico.
As the fourth series reaches Netflix this month, this is when we can expect the fifth instalment in the popular crime thriller…
When is the release date for Queen of the South on Netflix?
Series four of the American TV show – which first hit screens in 2016 – will be available to UK fans on Netflix from May 29, 2020.
It was first aired viewers to in the United States last summer between June and August on USANetwork, and will be shown on US Netflix from June 2020.
There will be 13 episodes for people to enjoy – and new cast members, including Chris Greene and Sofia Lama.
It was announced last summer that series five has been confirmed, and it was originally predicted to reach USA Network in 2021.
However, this could change after filming was paused on March 14, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
What is Queen of the South about?
The series is based on global bestselling book, La Reina del Sur, by Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
It tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (played by Alice Braga) whose drug-dealing boyfriend is suddenly killed by a Mexican cartel.
She is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in the US – and it is there she vows to get revenge for her late lover’s death.
By series three, Teresa is determined to build a drug-dealing empire for herself, with series four seeing her struggle to cope with enemies old and new.
The show also stars Veronica Falcon, Peter Gadiot and Nick Sagar.
