If you’re a Pokémon fan, chances are you’ve been eagerly looking forward to the arrival of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon remake which is due out very soon.

The game, which was originally released on Game Boy Advance and DS back in 2006, has gone on to inspire five different games, many of which have multiple versions.

It’s the original which is getting the remake though – so just when can we expect it, and on which format?

Here’s what you need to know…

When is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon released?

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon’s remake is released on Friday 6 March.

Announcing the launch back in January, The Pokémon Company said: ‘In 2006, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team games were released for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS systems in Japan.

‘In 2020, these titles will gain a new life on Nintendo Switch.’

Players have since been given the chance to try out a free demo of the game – with any progress they make being carried through to the main game when it’s released.

What formats will Pokémon Mystery Dungeon be released on?

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon will be released on Nintendo Switch, priced £49.99 from the Official Nintendo Store.

Mystery Dungeon is part of a crossover series which has seen spin-offs of everything from Dragon Quest through to Final Fantasy and Etrian Odyssey

It has spawned five games, including Explorers Of Time and Explorers of Darkness, and Gates To Infinity.

The idea of the game is that players play as a pokémon rather than a trainer – with the new game featuring a hand-drawn art style, and allowing players to have up to eight pokémon travelling with them at the same time.
