VIEWERS are set to be hooked by a new ITV Crime drama McDonald and Dodd as the unlikely detective duo tackle a series of intriguing murders.
These feature length epiosodes are set in the hisorical city of Bath – here, we take a look at what we know about the new series so far…
When is McDonald and Dodds on TV?
McDonald and Dodds is a new crime drama which will air on ITV at 8pm on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
Each episode will be two hours long.
The show was announced in July last year and it started filming in August.
Originally the show was commissioned under the title, Invisible.
What is McDonalds and Dodds about?
The drama is set in Bath and will comprise two feature-length films in the first outing of the new series.
Tala Gouvela (Cold Feet) stars as the ambitious and tough, DCI McDonald with Jason Watkins (The Crown) taking the role of her quiet, unassuming sidekick, DS Dodds.
McDonald has transferred from South London in an attempt to get up the career ladder thrusting Dodds into the frontline for the first time in years.
Each episode will follow the duo as they tackle intriguing crimes- from an unexplained death in a private hospital for recovering addicts through to an upper-class society murder.
Will there be more episodes of McDonald and Dodds?
No plans have been confirmed to broadcast any more episodes of the series.
The drama has been described by ITV as “a series of feature length crime mysteries, featuring two intriguing stories in this first outing.”
It looks likely that if the first two episodes are successful head of ITV drama, Polly Hill would look to commission more in the series depending on audience reactions.
“Robert Murphy has created a brilliant new partnership in Dodds and McDonald and I’m thrilled they will be played by Jason Watkins and Tala Gouveia. I think this is a fresh and contemporary double act that the audience will love, and we are delighted to be working with Mammoth to bring them to ITV next year.”
