WHEEL of Fortune host Pat Sajak is recovering from emergency surgery for a blocked intestine.
Thursday’s taping of the show – which is in its 37th season – was cancelled as the 73-year-old was admitted to hospital, according to their Twitter account.
“Our taping on Thursday was canceled because host Pat Sajak underwent successful emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine,” they wrote.
“He is resting comfortably and looking forward to getting back to work. Taping resumed today as scheduled, and Vanna White has stepped in a host,” they added.
The game show shared images of Vanna in the main host role, alongside Disney characters Minnie, Donald and Goofy.
Vanna, 62, looked stunning as ever in a black cocktail dress with cut-out shoulders as she appeared to front a Christmas edition of the popular show.
Sajak was seen looking healthy on November 1, when he joined White and Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, 79, to celebrate their longtime producer and friend Harry Friedman, who was receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Pat Sajak has been hosting Wheel of Fortune – the longest-running syndicated game show in the U.S., since 1982. The show taped its 7,000th episode in May of last year.
He has been married to photographer Lesly Sajak since 1989, and they share two adult children, son Patrick, 29, and daughter Maggie, 25.
