What’s on in wellness this December



Silly season may well be upon us but that doesn’t mean the entire month of December needs to be spent down the pub.

Whether you’re after an endorphin rush or simply some inspiration for ways to spend some well-earned ‘me time’ in between frantic Christmas shopping, why not carve out some time for one of these wellbeing-focused events. 

From a CBD happy hour to a yin yoga and sound healing session, here’s what’s on the agenda this month other than mulled wine and mince pies (listed in event order). 

CBD Happy Hour at The Drug Store

The Drug.Store’s new space in Fenchurch Street

Having witnessed good demand since opening its first bricks and mortar CBD store in Marylebone in the summer, The Drug.Store has just opened its second London site on Fenchurch Street. To celebrate, it will be launching a CBD ‘Happy Hour’ this month. Customers are invited to drop by the store between 4pm-6pm each weekday evening for a complimentary CBD beer or non-alcoholic alternative, while also receiving free consultations from the store’s expert advisor and founder of Dosage, Dr Julie Moltke.

The Susty Summit 

Sustainable beauty brand BYBI is holding a ‘Susty’ Christmas market in Central London offering beauty buffs a chance to shop from sustainable brands selling eco gifts while sipping on a festive tipple. 

There will be a talk from founders Elsie & Dominika (aka @cleanbeautyinsiders) as well as industry experts, on topics such as sustainability, food waste and wrapping paper alternatives. ​

BLOKsound taster and workshop 

BLOKsound combines yin yoga and sound healing

Each month boutique fitness studio Blok hosts a series of two-hour masterclasses designed to help members hone their skills in their chosen area. This December, in addition to a boxing and an inversions workshop, the studio is introducing a brand new class BLOKsound, which will launch at all studios in January 2020.

The workshop involves 60 minutes of yin yoga and another 60 minutes of sound healing designed to relax and repair the mind, leaving you ready for the new year ahead.

Morning Gloryville x Arboretum Wellness Lounge series 

This month Morning Gloryville, the kings of the sober rave, will launch a Wellness Lounge series with Arboretum, London’s first environmentally-friendly members’ club.

The five-hour Sunday session will take the form of a lounge style party, with a DJ and dancefloor. There will be vegan food to feast on (for an extra £15) and workshops and classes, including Kundalini yoga, Acro Play and a Cacao Ceremony (all £10 each to take part) and the day will be rounded off with a Sonic Sound Activation, involving crystal bowls and musical instruments.

SoulCycle fundraiser class and wellness talk 

SoulCycle Notting Hill

If you haven’t yet checked out SoulCycle’s second London studio in Notting Hill, use this as an excuse to get down there. In celebration of its latest opening SoulCycle is hosting a fundraising event in partnership with Place2Be, which provides support for children’s mental health in schools across the UK.

The event consists of a 30-minute talk followed by a Q&A on how to manage stress and anxiety over the festive period with Dr Stephen Adams-Langley, who specialises in psychotherapy and counselling, finished off with a a signature 45-minute SoulCycle class led by instructor Micky J.

All profits from the event go to the charity and attendees will also enjoy refreshments and a goodie bag to take home afterwards.

Innersense x goop blow dry pop up

In need of a spot of pampering? Organic haircare brand Innercense will host a dry styling pop up at Goop in Notting Hill, where the products are also stocked, for an afternoon of blow dries and festive cheer. The 30-minute slots are available to customers who make a minimum in-store spend of £50.

Women in Wellness x Lululemon

In need of some training or possibly even some career inspo? Wellbeing venue Re:Centre will host a panel discussion in collaboration with activewear label Lululemon featuring Hannah and Emily of the running blog Twice the Health;  yogi Mariel Witmond, osteopath and yoga teacher Anji Gopal; weight lifter Noorin Gulam and Pip Amer, who will all share their experiences working in the world of fitness and wellness, after which each will host their own breakout corner for more discussions. ​

BXR x Haringey Boxing Club: The Best of Female Boxing 


BXR and Haringey Boxing Club will host a celebration of female boxing

In celebration of all things female boxing, boutique fitness concept BXR and Haringey Boxing Club have joined forces for an afternoon of sport, talks, champagne and DJs. 

There will be a panel discussion featuring Terri Kelly of London Boxing, Kate Dale from This Girl Can Box and Sandra Vaughan, CEO of boxing management company MTK Global, followed by three Olympic-style fights in the ring by four World Champion female athletes – and all proceeds of ticket sales will go towards grassroots female boxing funding.
