What we know so far about Netflix’s new series The Politician

Ryan Murphy’s new show The Politician is going to be landing on Netflix soon, and will feature the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Platt and Lucy Boynton.

Murphy has previously put out hits in the form of American Horror Story, Pose and Glee, so the news that he – along with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan – are bringing us another show is most welcome.

With the drop date of the show coming up fast, we’ve put together a roundup of what you need to know about The Politician before you binge it…

What will The Politician will be about?

The plot of The Politician will centre around Payton Hobart, played by Ben Platt, who has known since he was seven years old that he would become US President.

Before he can do that however, he must navigate the troubled and treacherous waters of Saint Sebastian High School, be elected student body president, and get into Harvard – all without compromising his own morals.

The cast of The Politician

In addition to Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow will be fronting the cast as Hobart’s mother, who’s ultra-priveledged and hell-bent on getting her son into Harvard.

American Horror Story alum and all-round legend Jessica Lange will play Payton’s grandmother.

The show will also feature Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Bette Midler, January Jones, Dylan McDermott, Rahne Jones and Benjamin Barrett.

When will The Politician be released on Netflix?

All eight episodes of The Politician will be landing on Netflix on 27 September 2019.
