Strictly Come Dancing’s Katya and Neil Jones have just announced that they are parting ways.
There had been trouble in paradise following a cheating scandal on the show, but the couple seemed to be working on their relationship problems and were putting up a united front.
Just in March they told Metro.co.uk that they were trying to ‘keep positive’ – but it seems things have now come to a breaking point.
The pair, who will both remain as dancers on the show, released a joint statement addressing their split, and claimed it was due to their relationship having developed into a friendship, rather a romantic connection.
However, fans will undoubtedly question if this is the real reason they broke up or if it’s because of that fateful incident between Katya and Seann Walsh. But what exactly happened between the dancer and the comedian?
What happened between Katya Jones and Seann Walsh?
In 2018, after two years on Strictly Come Dancing, Katya was paired up with comedian Seann Walsh, who at the time was in a five-year relationship with Rebecca Humphries.
They had electric chemistry off and on the stage, and in October that year were caught kissing while out on the high street.
According to Katya, this was a singular incident and the result of too much alcohol. After the photos were published, she took to Twitter to share her thoughts.
‘I’m so sorry about any offence or hurt I may have caused with my actions,’ she said.
‘I wasn’t thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks. I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship.’
Seann and Rebecca broke up shortly after the snogging session, but Katya and Neil stuck together and spoke publicly about what had happened on the TV show It Takes Two.
Meanwhile, a recently single Seann used the scandal as inspiration for a new stand-up routine, and joked that he had been offered £500,000 to make a porn film with Katya.
He was also criticised after speaking about the kiss on The Jonathan Ross Show earlier this year.
How long was Katya with Neil Jones?
Katya and Neil have been together for 11 years.
They first took the dance floor together in Blackpool in 2008 and over time became undefeated four-time British National Champions, as well as three-time winners of the World Amateur Latin Championships.
They got married in 2013 and three years later, joined Strictly Come Dancing – which, unfortunately, spelled the beginning of the end for their marriage.
