The 31-year-old took to YouTube to talk about his upbringing and family history.

He published the video on February 15, 2022 to his over 12K subscribers.

In the 13 minute video he dives in deeper into what it was like growing up as Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s son.

Chet did acknowledge he grew up “blessed” with parents he loves but that the upbringing was still a “double-edged sword.”

“There’s a lot of advantages but sometimes it can be pretty weird,” he said.

“I got to do a lot of cool s**t that a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do. I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes and I’m very blessed for that. I wouldn’t change my situation.”

However, he also went on to share how that upbringing brought a lot jealousy into his life.

“My experience was even more complicated because on top of fame already being toxic, I wasn’t even famous,” Chet said.

“I was just the son of somebody famous so I hadn’t even done anything to deserve any sort of recognition and that created a lot of contempt.”

The video uploaded to YouTube is titled The Truth About Growing Up As A Hanks and has already gained over 37K views.

What does Chet Hanks do for work?

Chet, who is professionally known as Chet Hanx, is also an actor and musician.

He has appeared in the hit TV show Empire, he played the character Blake Sterling.

The actor’s son attended Northwestern University in Illinois.
