Wetherspoons launches January sale with pints for less than £2

WETHERSPOON’S will be ushering in the new year with a countrywide sale on a range of drinks, offering some pints for less than £2.

The pub chain will be slashing prices on both alcoholic and soft drinks between Thursday January 2 and Thursday January 16.

Among the reduced drinks will be pints of Shipyard ale for £2.35 and Magners ciders for £1.89.

If wines and spirits are more to your taste, 175ml glasses of red, white, or rose wine will be available for £2.30, while a shot of Gordon’s gin with a mixer will be £2.45.

If you having a dry January after a boozey Christmas, a range of soft drinks, including alcohol-free beers and all-you-can-drink teas and coffees, will also be included.

In Scotland, the sale will run from January 3 to January 17 inclusive.

Wetherspoon’s chief executive John Hutson said: “Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in our pubs too.

“The range of drinks on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes.

“This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks.

“I believe that the January Sale will prove popular with our customers.

“As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.”

The chain will also be reducing prices at its 58 hotels, with rooms starting at £49.

The sale comes after an announcement earlier this month that Wetherspoon’s is to invest more than £200 million in its pubs and hotels over the next four years.

The company said the money would go towards improving existing boozers, as well as on new pubs and hotels.
