West Brom vs Tottenham LIVE: Latest score, goals and updates from Premier League fixture today

West Brom are hosting Tottenham this afternoon in the Premier League’s 12pm GMT kick-off.

The Baggies are still searching for their first win of the season and know it will be a tall order today against one of the league’s in-form sides. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been particularly devastating for Tottenham in these opening weeks while the addition of Gareth Bale only adds to Jose Mourinho’s firepower.

18 mins: Krovinovic sends a corner into the box for West Brom.  It’s flicked onto the back post and picked up by Grant. He fires a low ball into the middle and wins another corner. Krovinovic swings this one in but Hojbjerg heads it away.

West Brom keep up the pressure though by sending the ball out to the right wing. Krovinovic, I think it is, whips a cross into the six-yard box. Grant makes a beautiful run and gets his head to the ball but puts it wide!

15 mins: Huge chance for Son! A ball down the line comes to Bale who finds Kane. He whips a cross into the box and Ndombele brings it down with a perfect touch. He lays it off to Son who takes too long on the ball and has his shot blocked by Ajayi!

12 mins: Spurs are threatening to the left of West Brom’s box. Kane drifts more central and receives the ball. Gallagher is on to him quickly and he wins the ball with a good tackle. Tottenham are dominating possession but West Brom haven’t let them create many chances.

9 mins: West Brom defend the corner well but Spurs regain possession. Dier sends a long ball up to Bale and he is beaten to the header by Bartley. Solid defending from the Baggies so far.

6 mins: It’s been a slow start from Tottenham but they move the ball up the pitch nicely. Sissoko picking out Kane who flicks it smoothly out wide to Doherty. He runs towards the byline and cuts the ball back into the middle of the box but Townsend is there to boot it out for a corner.

Jose Mourinho on Gareth Bale’s first Premier League start of the season:

“It is the natural evolution of things. The Premier League is more intense than the Europa League group phase and that is the best competition for Gareth Bale to develop. The Premier League needs to be taken step by step and today was a good moment for him after 65 minutes on Thursday. With Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn injured, our options are less. Gareth is working hard and deserves a start. We think it is the right time.”

Less than ten minutes to go until kick off. With 18 goals this season Tottenham top the table for the most goals scored in the league.

West Brom have struggled since coming up from the Championship and with Kane, Son and Bale up top for Spurs we could see plenty more goals today.

Tottenham’s tally of 12 goals from their opening three away games is the highest by a top-flight side since 1935, when Middlesbrough had 14 goals at the same stage.

They look likely to extend that tally as well as Harry Kane enjoys playing against West Brom. The Spurs striker has seven goals in seven league games against the Baggies.
