Wendy Williams has issued a scathing warning to Nicki Minaj, claiming the rapper has ‘ruined’ her career by marrying a registered sex offender.

Nicki, 37, quietly tied the knot with her childhood sweetheart Kenneth Petty in October amid scrutiny over their relationship due to his legal history.

It emerged last year that Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in April 1995, when he and the victim were reportedly aged 16.

According to prosecutors, he had used a sharp object to try to force the girl to have sex with him.

Kenneth served around four years in NY state prison, and was also later convicted of first-degree manslaughter for shooting a man, for which he served seven years.

Last week, Kenneth was arrested after failing to register as a sex offender in California where he moved to from New York not long after he began dating Nicki.

He pleaded not guilty, registered as a sex offender in California and was released on bond.

Reacting to the news, Wendy said during Tuesday’s Hot Topics segment on her Wendy Williams Show: ‘Well, apparently the way this show is going today, we did not have enough time to get to Nicki Minaj’s [husband].

‘But let me tell you something, Nicki. That’s going to be my first story tomorrow and I’m going to lead with this: You should’ve never married him because now you’ve ruined everything about what your brand could be.’

The outspoken daytime talk show host continued: ‘Again, you are never going to stand a chance when you are with a man who pulls a [weapon] at rape point. A registered sex offender, you are never going to stand a chance with the public.

‘By the way, he did go to jail for manslaughter. Oh, I think I just did the story. No, get to digging. There’s more on it. Everybody get to digging. Get to digging.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Nicki’s reps for comment.

It’s not the first time Nicki and Wendy have clashed.

In November, the Super Bass rapper hit back at the TV star for her previous comments about Kenneth.

During an episode of her Queen Radio show, Nicki said: ‘It’s not about doing your job.

‘There are people who report the news and there are people who do it with an evil intent in their heart, viciousness. And I pray for you because I know you’re hurting and I know you must be sick and humiliated.

‘I didn’t know that in our society, you have to be plagued by your past. I didn’t know that people can’t turn over a new leaf. I didn’t know that your viciousness and evilness was this deep rooted.’
