Wendy Williams’ estranged husband Kevin Hunter accused of poisoning her by anonymous tipster who phoned police to check on talk show host
Police in New Jersey visited the home of Wendy Williams and her husband Kevin Hunter in January to perform a welfare check on the 55-year-old, according to a new report from TMZ on Tuesday.
The outlet reports that the caller claimed to be an employee of Williams’ production company and stated that they believed that the talk show host was being poisoned.
A police report states that the call came in early in 2018 from a ‘random caller’ who alleged that Wendy’s husband Kevin hunter was ‘poisoning the talk show host.’

‘The caller believed Kevin was slipping Wendy something harmful, and he or she wanted cops to check on her,’ TMZ reported.
Two officers responded to the call and went to Wendy’s New Jersey mansion to perform a ‘welfare check.’
When the officers asked the star if there was ‘any truth to the anonymous tip she was being poisoned’ she didn’t outright deny it, saying something to effect of ‘well, I’m very popular.’
When pressed by police, TMZ reports that Wendy ‘ became tearful, but denied there was any truth to it.’

The outlet also stated that when cops arrived to their home it was Hunter who answered the door and was initially ‘hesitant’ to let them in, claiming that Wendy was under the weather.
At the time, Wendy had been on hiatus from her show and was claiming it was for medical reasons.
DailyMail.com later revealed, which Wendy confirmed, that she had suffered a relapse into drug and alcohol addition.
‘Cops say they explained to Hunter they were required to speak with Williams due to the anonymous call,’ TMZ wrote. ‘When he allowed them to enter, they found Williams in bed “with the blanket covering from neck to toe.”‘

The officers requested to speak to Wendy alone, the report said, but Kevin wouldn’t leave her bedside.
The talk show host told cops that she was recuperating from a broken shoulder.
Before Christmas, Wendy missed a December 17 episode of her show and appeared the next day with her arm in a sling under a pink sweater.
She explained to the audience that she had a hairline shoulder fracture.

Wendy didn’t return to her show after her holiday hiatus and announced in January that she would be taking an ‘extended break’ due to medical reasons and air new episodes with guest hosts.
DailyMail.com had contemporaneously published news of a decade long affair between Hunter and massage therapist Sharina Hudson which resulted in a baby girl.
The recent birth just a few weeks ago, pushed Wendy to a second unfortunate relapse into her drugs and alcohol abuse.
She has since entered recovery and returned to the helm of her hit talk show and recently filed for divorce from Kevin.
