Weekend football betting preview and tips, including Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester United

There’s intrigue at every level this weekend, as the Football League enters its penultimate round of fixtures and the Premier League continues to race towards its conclusion.

ThePools.com (http://bit.ly/2UTKxqI) are offering betting on all matches. The original Football Pools has been part of our weekend football culture for over 95 years and now you can play with them online. Bet £10 this weekend and if your first bet loses, Thepools will give you a £5 free bet !

Friday night’s alright for The Reds

The weekend’s action starts with Liverpool taking on Huddersfield on Friday night. The Reds will take back top place with a win – until Sunday at least – and it’s hard to see anything but a home win against a team that have long since looked like a Championship outfit.

In fact, those looking for interesting odds would be best to look at individual player markets, with Sadio Mane currently 5/2 to grab the first goal, Mo Salah 12/5 or the recently crowned PFA Player Of The Year Virgil Van Dijk is 14/1 to break the deadlock.

Bet on Liverpool vs Huddersfield .

On Saturday, there’s a busy fixture list to get your teeth into, with plenty still to play for across the divisions. In the Premier League, Crystal Palace versus Everton sees two form teams come together, and we can see the Eagles taking the points on home turf.

Elsewhere, Cardiff will have earmarked their tie away at Fulham as a game where they could grab a win and put the pressure on Brighton in that relegation scrap. We’re backing Warnock’s men to grab a narrow win and carry the fight on for another week.

In the Championship, the top two only play on Saturday evening, and Sheffield United will take top spot if they beat already-relegated Ipswich – which they will. Following them, Norwich have been coughing and spluttering their way to the finish line in recent weeks but we think they’ll finally confirm their promotion this weekend with a home win over Blackburn. Sorry Leeds fans.

In League One, there’s still four teams going for automatic promotion, and two of them face off this weekend with Sunderland hosting Portsmouth. A month on from that epic Checkatrade Trophy final between these two sides, we’re backing Sunderland to get revenge on their south coast rivals with a tight win.

Premier League to the wire?

On Sunday, Manchester City will look to take back top spot in the Premier League when they travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley, probably the sternest test they have remaining this season. Sean Dyche’s men will be tough opposition but we’re backing Pep’s team to show the class required to secure all three points.

In the other Premier League ties, Leicester host an Arsenal side who have lost twice in a week. The Foxes haven’t been fantastic recently but we can see them grabbing a win against Unai Emery’s lacklustre squad who struggle on the road.

That then leaves Manchester United vs Chelsea, two of the teams who seem desperate to not qualify for the Champions League. United did perform well in patches against City in midweek, and we’re backing them to grab a win against Chelsea and put a stop to a terrible run.

If you’re looking to build an acca from Sunday’s fixtures, there’s a couple of other tasty ties to look at. Leeds vs Aston Villa is a eye-catching Championship fixture – Bielsa’s topsy-turvy United against Dean Smith’s energetic play-off favourites.

With a record-breaking ten consecutive wins Villa will go to Elland Road full of expectation and we’re backing them to make it eleven on the bounce with another victory. Sorry again, Leeds fans.

Finally, there’s a fiery Scottish derby (are there any other kinds?) with Hibs hosting Hearts at Easter Road. Paul Heckingbottom is unbeaten as Hibernian manager since he took over in February, and we’re backing that run to continue on Sunday to round off our selections.

Hibernian, Leicester, Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa all to win£10 on wins over £770 in an accumulator !
