When you think of a wedding, you probably think of a classy occasion.
But more often than not it seems something goes wrong and spoils the day – be it a drunk relative or a mother who turns up to the ceremony dressed in white.
These stories are so mortifying but also incredibly captivating, which is why one woman decided to ask people of the internet to share their own nightmare wedding stories.
In a post on Mumsnet, the unnamed woman revealed how the day before she’d been to a wedding, where the bride had sang herself down the aisle, belting out Total Eclipse of the Heart – but not exactly in tune.
This prompted others to start telling stories and what followed was so cringey.

One fellow user explained how at a wedding they’d been to, the father of the bride spent 10 minutes of his speech describing how beautiful his daughter Kate was, recounting her achievements and basically praising her for being a wonderful human being.
But there was just one thing wrong with this sweet moment.
“All fine, until you remember it was his other daughter Emma getting married that day and she barely got a mention,” she added.
Someone else revealed that when one of her old school friends tied the knot, the groom was caught having sex with one of the bridesmaids in a cleaning cupboard during the reception.
“Cue much screaming and everyone went home early,” they recalled. “Needless to say, that couple are divorced.”

And the embarrassment doesn’t stop there…
A third person wrote: “I was at a wedding where the DJ played the wrong song for the bride and groom’s first dance. Instead of the U2 song they asked for he played I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
Another commented: “I went to a wedding where the bride’s mother drank so much alcohol that she peed herself and a relative had to strip her off and put her to bed.”
A fifth replied: “The best man did a slide show about the groom during his speech. One of the photos was of the groom using an outside shower during a trip to Africa. Thankfully not a full frontal, but embarrassing enough.
“It’s all anyone remembers about the wedding. Not the bride’s lovely dress, not the lovely service or the nice food. Just a nude photo of the groom.”

Other hilarious stories involved a wedding where the evening reception featured a board full of photos of women’s bums.
Apparently the bridal party had taken photos of their backsides at the hen do and were now getting people to guess which was which.
There were also several tales of couples announcing their engagements at weddings and one where the groom was so drunk, he stripped naked on the dance floor and stood there, leaving the bride in tears on her big day.
