Beware of the ‘dud’ deals
SHOPPERS have been warned that not every Black Friday “deal” is a good one.
Retailers are advertising a raft of cracking offers but some are duds, consumer group Which? found.

The watchdog monitored prices in the six months to and after last year’s Black Friday and spotted some products were the same price or less at other times of the year, such as in the Boxing Day sales.
Which? is urging shoppers not to get carried away by the hype of today’s sales and to do their research to assess whether the price and quality of the product they are considering makes it suitable for them.
Natalie Hitchins, Which? head of home products and services, said: “We have repeatedly shown that ‘deals’ touted by retailers on Black Friday are not as good as they seem.
“Time-limited sales can be a good opportunity to bag a bargain, but don’t fall for the pressure tactics around Black Friday.”
Top tips for bagging a bargain
- Avoid impulse buys by working out what you need and can spend.
- Check the RRP and what the item is being sold for at rival retailers.
- Use websites such as PriceRunner to check its price on previous days.
- Don’t worry about missing out on an offer as Which? research shows you may even be better off waiting for a sale later in the year.
