We put these Aussie shampoo bars to the test, and we have some *thoughts*

At initial thoughts, I was convinced the new Aussie Koality Moisture Shampoo wouldn’t be for me. Not only do I have my ride-or-die hair products that I’ve been using for years, but I was also sceptical as this product comes in koala form. My first questions were, would it feel like I was running soap through my hair, and is it a gimmick? Hair wash day came and it was time to put it to the test.

Regardless of the actual hair result, this product covers three massive ticks for me; it’s vegan, animal cruelty-free, and 100% recyclable. For the conscious babes out there, this one’s for you. In terms of the physical product, it smells divine and lathers up with literally a drop of water, perfect for those who love a foamy wash. My only concern was, with the nature of a shampoo bar it’s hard to tell when enough is enough. It is easy to overdo it, so much so that my hair ended up getting quite matted by the end of the second wash.

Once I got a brush through my wet hair (thankful for detangler) and gave myself a bouncy blow-dry, my hair had never felt so soft. The Aussie Koality Moisture Shampoo Bar is super rich in Australian macadamia nut oil, serving up an intense shot of nourishment and hydration. Overall, I don’t think shampoo bars are for me, but the ingredient formula of this product is *chefs kiss*.

Product: Aussie Koality Moisture Vegan Solid Shampoo Bar, £9.99, Boots

Full disclaimer. The last time I tried a shampoo bar, I did not like the feeling after the wash, so naturally, I remained sceptical. On first impression this shampoo bar was so freaking adorable, the little koala really brings joy to hair wash day. My next concern was how easy it was going to lather, but the bar foams up pretty quickly actually, so if you section your hair it should give you the even coverage you need from root to tip. It was quite detangling as well, which was a pleasant surprise, but too much and then you turn it all into a matted mess, so be careful with the dosage. A little goes a long way.
