‘We lost our best friend of nearly 14 years today’: Emmy Rossum mourns beloved pet dog Cinnamon

Emmy Rossum mourned her late dog Cinnamon in an Instagram post on Thursday.

‘We lost our best friend of nearly 14 years today,’ said the 34-year-old actress, who shared her pet with husband, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, 43.

‘Cinnamon was loved by Emmy and Sam, by his brother Sugar and his sisters Pepper and Fiona,’ the New York City native said. ‘He loved eating, sleeping, and traveling. He loved barking at children and eating discarded pizza crusts off the street.’

‘I’ve always been a large proponent of the no-kill movement and Best Friends is the leader of that across the country,’ she said. ‘So, that’s hugely important to me and I just really believe that animals – I don’t have kids yet – add so much to my family and my life and sense of happiness and a sense of comfort … I feel like they rescue me as much as I rescue them.

‘In fact, in moving back to New York, one of the biggest things was finding an apartment building, a co-op that would let me get in with all my animals because some are very tricky with that.’

Rossum’s upcoming project is a four-part Peacock series titled Angelyne, in which she plays the titular character, a 1980s billboard queen. Her husband Esmail is an executive producer on the show, which co-stars Jefferson Hall, Lukas Gage and Brian Carpenter.
