We found the best Black Friday gaming laptop deal under £1000

With RTX 2060 graphics, Ryzen 4800H CPU and 512GB SSD.

The best Black Friday gaming laptop deal we’ve spotted under £1000 is on the Lenovo Legion 5. Right now you can pick up this fully kitted-out laptop with a high-performance Ryzen 4800H processor and fast RTX 2060 graphics card for £950, which is £150 less than its usual price. Finding Ryzen 4000-series laptops has been tough after the word got out that they were significantly faster and more power-efficient than their Intel counterparts, so this is a particularly good find!

Let’s have a look at the rest of the specs – it’s all pretty impressive. You have 16GB of RAM, 512GB of high-speed NVMe SSD storage and a 15-inch 144Hz display. Normally corners are cut to get an RTX-equipped laptop under the £1000 mark, but this is all really good.

The screen is an IPS model, so it only gets moderately bright but offers excellent colour reproduction and wide viewing angles – this could be a laptop you use for colour-sensitive professional work if you wanted to!

The reviews of this laptop are also univerally positive. Ultrabook Review praised its build quality, excellent performance and upgradeability, while Neowin noted its great keyboard, long battery life – thanks to that Ryzen 4800H processor – and its excellent industrial design. Any downsides? Neowin wanted to see a touchpad with dedicated buttons, and Ultrabook Review noted that the Legion 5 is a little thicker than other machines, but in total each review is very positive overall.

Overall, while we’ve considered a few different laptops that squeeze under that £1000 mark, the Lenovo Legion 5 at £950 is the very best we’ve discovered so far this Black Friday and we think you’ll be very happy with it!

Two more options

alternatives

If you’d like a gaming laptop that leans more towards portability, the Razer Blade Stealth 13 is also £900 at Ebuyer. This compact laptop has a low-power Core i7 and GTX 1650 Ti, but equals the Legion 5 with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. If you want something light to slip in a bag and use on the go, this is still going to provide better performance than a laptop with integrated graphics.

A more balanced option is the Asus Tuf A15 for £899 at Laptops Direct. It’s another Ryzen 4000 machine with a Ryzen 48000H processor, GTX 1650 Ti graphics card, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. There’s a 120Hz 15.6-inch screen too. Digital Foundry head honcho Rich reviewed the RTX 2060 version of this machine and found a lot to recommend.

Stay tuned for more Black Friday (and Cyber Monday!) deals over the next few days, and follow @dealsfoundry on Twitter to get the best deals we discover them! If you’re looking for PS5, Xbox Series X, Ryzen 5000 or RTX 30-series stock, then we’ll tweet them first there.
