Wayne Rooney added yet another stunning goal to his collection last night by scoring from inside his own half in DC United’s win against Orlando City.

The 33-year-old joined the Washington club last summer and has helped reverse their fortunes during an impressive 12 months in the States.

Rooney’s overhead kick against Manchester City in 2011 is widely considered to be the best goal of his career, whilst he’s also struck incredible hits against Newcastle in 2004 and West Ham in 2017 while at Everton.

The forward’s scored from inside his own half before in his career when he hit an incredible strike over West Ham goalkeeper Adrian in 2014.

And Rooney was at it again for DC last night when he pounced on a bouncing ball and hit a sailing 60-yard effort over the helpless Brian Rowe.

The goal, coming after 10 minutes in the US capital, was the only goal of the game as DC took the three points at Audi Field.

It was Rooney’s ninth goal in 17 appearances this term, putting DC to within two points of the leaders Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference standings.
