Wayne and Coleen Rooney ridiculed as £20m mansion is compared to a Morrisons

Wayne and Coleen Rooney have been ridiculed as their £20m Cheshire mansion continues to take shape.

Work on the stunning six-bedroom pad has been ongoing for the last year after burglars broke into their home in August.

The property features an outbuilding, a stable and a man-made fishing lake, among many more interior features.

But the Rooney family have had fun poked at them after scaffolding around the property was finally taken down.

Images of the house emerged on social media with users comparing it to a Morrisons supermarket, while others likened the plot to a Travelodge hotel.

Scaffolding has now been removed from the property

One Twitter user @pmitch69 tweeted: “Looks like a Morrisons”.

The Rooneys, who are currently residing in the States, are expected to move into the property in the near future, and spend some time close to their family in the North West.

The mansion features TV and snooker rooms, as well as a gym, swimming pool and private cinema.

A tunnel also provides a footballer-style entrance from the car park to the £20m house.

They decided to move after an attempted break-in when Rooney was playing in his testimonial in 2016.

Former England striker Rooney is currently plying his trade with DC United in the MLS.

Coleen and their three sons have since joined him Stateside but the family are now keen to put down more roots back in England for when his playing days are over.

Rooney grabbed a last-gasp equaliser from the penalty spot in DC’s last encounter against New York Revolution.

The penalty was Rooney’s eighth goal of the season and the result saw DC take top spot in the Eastern Conference.
