Watch Yesterday’s Falcon 9 Launch from 850 Feet and 4.7 Miles Away

Respected spaceflight photographer John Kraus was on hand yesterday to watch and capture the latest SpaceX Falcon 9 launch in Florida. But he didn’t just capture one view, he captured three.

In a video posted to YouTube last night, he shared footage of the CRS-19 launch from a remote camera he set up just 850 feet away from the launchpad, as well as two different views of the launch as seen from the roof of NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building 4.7 miles away. No matter how many times we see this kind of footage, it’s always incredible to see this much power from so close.

Check out the video(s) of yesterday’s launch up top, and if you want to see more of Kraus’ work or find out more about the teen-aged rocket launch photographer, dive into the PetaPixel archives, visit his website, or give him a follow on Instagram.
