Watch the explosive final trailer for saga closer 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'

This is some galactic history decades in the making, folks: The final trailer for the final movie in the 42-year Skywalker saga is here.

With less than two months before the release of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (in theaters Dec. 20), fans got a look during ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” at what’s to come in the latest trilogy closer featuring Daisy Ridley’s heroic lightsaber jockey Rey, John Boyega’s Stormtrooper-turned-rebel Finn, Oscar Isaac’s Resistance flyboy Poe Dameron and the late Carrie Fisher’s General Leia in her last appearance.

And the trailer has plenty to unpack, from huge fleets of starships readying for war (and our heroes riding space horses?!), a voiceover appearance from none other than Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) and a seriously wet confrontation between Rey and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, the evil First Order’s hotheaded new Supreme Leader.

“The Rise of Skywalker” returns an old favorite in original trilogy star Billy Dee Williams’ cool gambling pilot Lando Calrissian (last seen in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” played by Donald Glover) plus debuts a host of new characters including Naomi Ackie’s fresh-faced warrior Jannah, Keri Russell’s mysterious masked bounty hunter Zorii Bliss (who’s already giving us Boba Fett vibes) and Richard E. Grant’s First Order Allegiant General Pryde.
