WATCH | Making the most of lockdown: Fun with four-legged companions

As South Africa enters its fifth week of a nationwide lockdown aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, pet owners have had more than enough time to spend with their four-legged companions.

Walks in the park have turned into walks in the yard, but some owners have taken it upon themselves to have a little more fun in the sun with their beloved pets.

Cape Town resident Lisa Kowen, her Goldendoodle pup Brodi and a few of their friends, created a mash-up video showcasing their love for their pets during the lockdown. Two of the pets in the video reside all the way in Austria.

“It was just nice to see what everyone was doing with their pets, it is something fun,” said Kowen.

In the video, dogs, cats and even horses are seen having fun with their human friends. Some are even dressed up to portray particular personalities.

“The dogs are going to have separation anxiety once everything goes back to normal,” she said.

Kowen told News24 that the video is a needed form of entertainment during these difficult times as South Africans find themselves locked up in their homes, with nothing to do and nowhere to go.

“For me, it has been an amazing family time. I get to spend time with my loved ones.”
